Brad Jewell, CPA, MPA, CAP is the senior vice president/chief financial and operating officer for the Pennington Biomedical Research Foundation. In this role, he provides leadership and oversight for all accounting, finance, investment, compliance, and operational areas of the Foundation. Brad also serves on the executive management and budget advisory committees of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center.
Prior to his arrival in 2000, Brad was employed as an audit senior with the CPA firm of Hawthorn, Waymouth, & Carroll, LLP. There, he managed multiple assurance, accounting, tax, and consulting engagements for a wide variety of clients and industries. He became a certified public accountant licensed in the state of Louisiana in 1999, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants.
During his tenure at the Foundation, Brad has made significant contributions to various projects and initiatives concerning the not-for-profit and higher education sectors, including support provided to the Louisiana Board of Regents, the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations, and the Financial Accounting Standards Board. In 2013, Brad was appointed to the national Not-for-Profit Organizations Expert Panel of the AICPA. In 2017, Brad was appointed to the Louisiana Board of Regents Support Fund Planning Committee as the representative of all higher education foundations in the State.
Brad holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in public administration from Louisiana State University. In 2016, he achieved the designation of chartered advisor in philanthropy (CAP) from The American College.
