The Pennington Biomedical Research Foundation (“Foundation”), in its mission of generating philanthropic support for the Pennington Biomedical Research Center (“Center”), maintains a database of donor and prospective donor records to further its mission and to manage and maintain accurate contact information, cumulative giving data, and acknowledgments for recognition and tax purposes. This database is private and access is strictly controlled by the development and administrative staff of the Foundation.
Louisiana State University
The Center is a campus of the Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State University Agricultural & Mechanical College (“LSU”). The Foundation has been formally identified and recognized by LSU as an affiliated support organization via a uniform affiliation agreement (“LSU Affiliated Organization”).
The Foundation collects information from a number of sources, including but not limited to donors, other LSU Affiliated Organizations, public sources, postal records and gift processing documents. We aggregate and analyze this information and use it for operational and administrative purposes, as well as to further the mission of the Foundation and Center.
The Foundation may share information it has collected, aggregated and/or analyzed with other LSU Affiliated Organizations and certain third parties, vendors, and consultants with whom we work, for use for a specific, limited purpose related to the missions of the Foundation, Center, and LSU. However, the Foundation will not sell or share the information we collect with any entity unaffiliated with either the Foundation, LSU, or the Center for the purposes of commercial or political solicitation under any circumstance.
The Foundation respects requests for anonymity, and will not publicize donor names or contribution levels for those that wish to remain anonymous. Further, except as required by law and as reasonably necessary for in the Foundation’s operation, the Foundation will not share information with third parties regarding a donor who opts out of allowing the Foundation to do so. To opt out, please send us an email at email@example.com.
The Foundation is a private entity and, as such, is not subject to the same information disclosure requirements as the Center, which is a state entity. However, the Foundation may disclose information when required by law or when we, in good-faith, believe that such action is necessary in order to conform to the requirements of the law or comply with legal process served on the Foundation. We expressly disclaim any liability related to our disclosure of information.
The Foundation shares information in its database occasionally with vendors and consultants for the purpose of analysis and data enhancement. The Foundation maintains confidentiality agreements with these vendors and consultants to ensure the data is not shared, sold or used by them for any other purpose. The Foundation also shares non-identifiable donor and donation information with affiliated and unaffiliated entities for reporting, surveys, studies, and other general purposes.
The Foundation goes to great lengths to ensure the security of our records from unauthorized access. To prevent unauthorized access and maintain data accuracy, we have put in place commercially reasonable physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect. Although we use security that we believe to be appropriate to protect information we collect, we do not guarantee that our security precautions will prevent all loss, misuse, or alteration of information we collect.
